Green Dot Public Schools is constructing a 57,000 square foot permanent school facility for Oscar De La Hoya Ánimo Charter High School. The facility is being built at the former location of the Oscar De La Hoya Youth Center and Boxing Gym in Boyle Heights. Green Dot will continue to operate the boxing gym in conjunction with the school as part of its ongoing partnership with Oscar.

The brand new facility will house 520 students in grades 9-12. It will have 20 standard classrooms, four science labs, a computer lab, administrative offices, a multipurpose room, the boxing gym, and a rooftop lunch & play area.

Oscar De La Hoya presented Green Dot with an initial gift of $1 million in 2003, at the founding of his namesake school. In June 2008, he contributed an additional gift of $3.5 million toward the building of future Green Dot Public Schools.

The students, families, and staff of Green Dot Public Schools owes Oscar De La Hoya a huge debt of gratitude. Thank you Oscar!
